Revolutionary Virginia
Welcome to Revolutionary Virginia. We have a three-part vision here: 1) original research (research papers and blog posts), 2) encyclopedic content (shorter articles covering key units, events, issues, and people from the period), and 3) aggregated content from other sources (including new content, historic documents, and videos). We define “Virginia” as it was when the Revolution began, to include West Virginia, Kentucky, the states of the Old Northwest, East Tennessee (never officially), and southwest Pennsylvania (vehemently opposed). We may occasionally stray back into the 17th century or forward into the early 19th century.
